Dr. Michael Balogh

Dr. Balogh is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo, where he has been on the faculty since 2004. He is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Gemini Observatory, Canada’s largest optical telescope. With over 100 publications in top astronomical journals, Dr. Balogh is internationally renowned for his research into the formation and evolution of galaxies. Using both theoretical models and observations on the world’s largest telescopes, he has discovered important links between galaxies and cosmic structure that have changed our understanding of how gas is distributed in the Universe.
