Gertie Beaucage

Gertie is a member of the Bear Clan of the Ojibwa – Anishinabek Nation and a member of the Nipissing First Nation which was established out of the Robinson-Huron Treaty of 1850. She has been privileged to spend a great part of her life learning from Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers about the culture, history and world view of her ancestors. These opportunities for learning have allowed her to share with others the wonderful history of the Anishinabek and to share the stories she has been told over the past number of years. She attended the University of Sudbury (Native Studies Program) and Ryerson Polytechnic Institute (Non – Profit Management). Gertie is a Traditional Healer and Consultant with the Barrie Area Native Advisory Circle (BANAC).

She is currently 3rd degree Midewiwin in the Three Fires Lodge Midewiwin Society which has involved her in a process of life-long learning with many good results for her and her family, community, and nation. Her one desire is to share the stories and the teachings with the young people of our nations.
